Ada Ruth Fields

Ada Ruth Fields, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lou and Mary Hagy Pendleton; loyal husband of 65 years, Joe L. Fields; sisters, Ann Reynolds and Joyce Stigall and husband Jack; brothers, Doug Pendleton and Bob Pendleton and daughter-in-law, Lisa Fields.

She was an avid and competitive bridge player and built many loyal and trusted friendships over the years and loved to read the Bible.   She ran the concession stand for Lebanon Little League and was famous for her hotdog chili.  She was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church and volunteered at Russell County Hospital as a pink lady and was a substitute teacher at Lebanon High School.  

Survivors include daughter, Beth Henry; sons, Tim Fields, John Fields and Thad Fields and wife Dee Dee; grandchildren, Joey Fields and wife Elise, Reece Henry and wife Rebecca, Tyler Fields, Cheri Hall and husband D.J., Ryan Fields, Amber Fields and husband David Dwinells, Charlie Fields and wife Ashleigh and Heather Fields.  Great-grandchildren, Mia, Zeke and Grayson Henry, Bella, Talan and Bodhi Hall, Wyatt Fields and one on the way; special daughter-in-law, Carol Fitzsimmons. 

The family would like to express a special thank you to Russell County Hospital, Home Nursing Company, Leanna Price, Selina Niles Donna Breeding and Megan  Lester  

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Combs Funeral Service chapel with Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories mausoleum in Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon.  Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the funeral home. 

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Green Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 695 Green Valley Road, Lebanon, Va. 24266.
