Benny Gene Neal

Cleveland, VA – Benny Gene Neal, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born on April 5, 1948. He loved to hunt and fish, was a lifetime member of the NRA, retired from Clinchfield Coal Company, was a member of the UMWA and was a graduate of Cleveland High School. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Willis Neal and Maxine Warner Neal.

He is survived by his daughter: Jessica Neal Barr and partner Adam Bostic; grandchildren: Zack Barr and Aidan Moore; sister: Karen Riley and husband Roy; brother: Bobby Neal and wife Bobbie; mother of his daughter and former wife: Martha Neal; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Danny Rhea officiating and UMWA Sub 28 Chaplin Corp. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will be 2 :00 pm Tuesday, November 14, 2023 in Ketron Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 pm to go in procession to the cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Lebanon VFW Post 9864.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or the charity of your choice.
