Danny Morris Hill

Danny Morris Hill, Age 76, passed away on May 17, 2025, after battling a lengthy illness. Danny was born at home in Greenbrier, Buchanan County, Virginia. While Danny was from Buchanan County he called Lebanon his home for the past 30 years. Danny was the son of James Corbit Hill and Ocie Hill, both deceased.

Danny is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Geneva Hill. Danny was a proud father of four children, Jeanene Compton and husband Nicholas Compton, Tina Hill, Danielle Castle and husband Tyler Castle and Josh Hill and wife Abigail Hill. Additionally, Danny was an immensely proud grandfather of three grandsons: Jacob Compton, Ethan Compton, and Hudson Castle. Further, he would be upset if the family did not include his honorary granddaughter, Caitlin Horn. Also, he is survived by his dog, Max, the dog he did not know he wanted until he got him.

Danny had two brothers, Benny Hill (deceased), Terry Wayne Hill, and two sisters, Janice O'quinn and Kathy Ballard.

Danny was a simple man and enjoyed simple pleasures. He always enjoyed speaking with fellow coal miners about the demands of the job. He enjoyed working on anything with an engine which resulted in a small collection of lawn mowers and parts. He loved his family deeply and shined every week when they came together for an evening meal. While his illness impacted his memory, he embraced it, and it resulted in many family members and friends being called different names. He liked to sit outside and operate as the taste tester for anything being grilled. Danny enjoyed being outside and piddling around the home. Danny passionately believed that if you cannot fix the problem with a hammer, screwdriver and black electrical tape, then it could not be fixed.

Funeral services will be held at the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., officiated by Tim Brown, who Danny watched on Sunday mornings.
