Darrell Lynn “Coonie” Stoots, 69, of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at his home.
He was born in Richlands, Virginia to the late Thurman ‘Coon” Stoots and the late Lucille Hess Stoots. Most people knew him as “Coonie” or the Sign Man as he was the owner and operator of the Sign Shop of Southwest Virginia for 28 years.
Darrell was a member of House of Prayer Church in Castlewood, Virginia. He loved drag racing and working on cars. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family especially his grandchildren. Darrell had a reputation in the community of being a hard worker and truly enjoyed his work.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Deborah Puckett Stoots; daughter, Adriane Stoots Ferguson and husband Brian Ferguson; son, Zack Stoots and wife Sarah Stoots; grandchildren, Hunter Vanover and wife Alex Vanover, Kobe Ferguson, Macie Ferguson and Mason Stoots; sister, Sondra Massie and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Legacy Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024 in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service chapel with Rev. Lawrence Hollyfield and Randall Austin officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Glen Puckett, Jr., Johnny Puckett, Ricky Puckett, Lynn Puckett, Caleb Cook and Willie Zetty.
