Dorothy Kate Fields

Lebanon, VA –Dorothy Kate Vencill Fields, age 92, passed into Heaven peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, December 12, 2022. She was born on May 7, 1930 in Belfast, VA. She was the daughter of the late George William Vencill and Nannie Bell Ferguson Vencill. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite past-times were reading, studying her Bible and gardening. Her favorite place to spend time was on her front porch with her family. She enjoyed taking care of her garden, flowers and watching her hummingbirds.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Earl B. Fields; brothers: Paul, Kyle, Bob and infant brother Carl; and sisters: Clara and Ellen.

She is survived by her loving family, daughters: Earlene Combs, Jackie Hackney (Mark); son: Randy Fields (Jenny); granddaughters: Miranda Combs and Katie Hackney; grandsons: Josh Fields (Rena), Justin Fields (Hope) and Avery Hackney; great-grandaughters: Jaidyn Fields, Kenlie Fields and Ryan Fields; great-grandson: Luke Fields; along with several nieces and nephews.

A private service was held on December 17, 2022 with Darrell Harmon officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Mark Hackney, Josh Fields, Justin Fields, Luke Fields and Avery Hackney.
