Dorothy Owens

Cleveland, VA – Dorothy Elizabeth Owens went to Heaven to be with the Lord May 13,2023 She was born July 2,1927 in Lebanon, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Nora Hughes. She was of the Baptist faith and upon retirement loved reading, cooking and working around the house. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John D. Owens; one son: Gary; a grandson: Timmy Owens; three brothers: Robert Hughes, Donnie and Ronnie Hughes; one sister: Irene Fuller.

She is survived by one daughter: Diana Jessee (son-in-law Randy); two sons: Mike Owens and Kenny Owens. She has two grandsons: Bryan Jessee (wife Jodee) and Clinton Owens (wife Krissy); one granddaughter: Iviy Jessee (husband Dan Surber); great-grand children: Kaylee Jessee, Emily Jessee, Lucas Elswick, Timmy Owens, Tanya Windle; two sisters: Weladean Steelman and Carolyn Crowe (husband Bruce); two brothers: Lynne Hughes (wife Peggy) Darrell Hughes (wife Glenda) along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank The Waters of Bristol and Gentiva Hospice Care in Bristol for all their loving care.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Don Zampogna officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
