Dorothy Lewis Vencill

Lebanon, VA – Dorothy Lewis Vencill, age 91, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at NHC Healthcare Bristol Virginia. She was born December 7, 1931 in Castlewood to the late Robert Lewis Sr. and Mary Rendy (Hurd) Lewis. She loved to work, especially in her garden. She was a former employer of St. Paul Sportswear and Russell Meat Packing. She attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church until her health declined.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Billy (Zeke) Vencill; brother: Robert Lewis, Jr.; and daughter-in-law: Brenda Vencill.

Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory include her son: Bobby Vencill; daughter: Patty Carter and husband Michael; grandson: Bryan (Jessica) Vencill; great-grandson: Brayden Vencill; great-granddaughter: Julianna Vencill; brothers: Bernard (Polly) Lewis, James (Tommy) and Beanie Lewis; sisters: Ellen Brown, Etta Mae Salyer; sister-in-law: Eva Lewis; several nieces and nephews; and grand dog: “Snickers”

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Wayne Huffman officiating. The committal service will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Moore, Rick Wampler, Will Jessee, Charlie Roberts, Bryan Vencill and Jay Buttsavage.
