Evelyn Mae Hayes Robinson

Lebanon, VA- Evelyn Mae Hayes Robinson passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Accordius Health Care in Abingdon, VA. Born on November 8, 1940 in Marion, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lee Roy Hayes Sr. and Margaret Hayes Coleman. Evelyn grew up in Chilhowie, VA and attended Carnegie High School in Marion, VA. Evelyn moved to Lebanon, VA after marrying Elijah Robinson. Evelyn was a member of Community Heights Baptist Church in Cedar Bluff, VA and later a charter member of Gracewood Community Church in Lebanon, VA where she served on the hospitality team. Evelyn was a Lebanon High School Band Booster for many years, she loved spending time with the kids and chaperoning trips. Evelyn retired from Russell County Medical Center after thirty two years of service as a nursing assistant and ward clerk. Evelyn enjoyed spending time talking with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years: Elijah D. Robinson; and one sister: Betty Jean Ganaway.

Survivors include her daughters: Marcia Robinson Hensley (Warren Reed) of Lebanon, VA, and Annette Robinson Leonard (Andrew) of Lebanon, VA; one granddaughter: Stephanie Leonard of Charlotte, NC; siblings: Lee Roy Hayes, Jr. (Connie) of Lebanon, VA, Elizabeth Ditto Houston of Rural Retreat, VA, Glenda Fullen of Christiansburg, VA, Carlos Hayes of Roanoke, VA, Margaret Hairston of Columbus, OH, Thomas Hayes of Emory, VA along with several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Delmar Somoskey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
