Lebanon, VA –George Wesley Tetter, Jr., age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 16, 2021. Born January 26, 1932 in Wythe County, son of the late George Wesley, Sr. and Mertie Ruth Osborne Tetter. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church and faithfully served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many decades. George served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean conflict; worked as a Union Iron Worker for fifteen years and retired as a welding instructor at RCCTC with thirty years of service. Anyone that knew him knew that he would do anything for others (as long as he wasn’t fishing that day). George taught us how to walk in faith and show God’s love. He was beloved by all and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of thirty-five years: Joan Bolling Tetter; his second wife of eight years: Virginia (Jenny) West Tetter; two sisters: Mabel Tetter Rankin and Mary Esther Doss.
He is survived by his two daughters: Dr. Melanie Cardell of Douglasville, GA and Kathy Nunley and husband Dwight of Lebanon, VA; grandchildren: Wesley Nunley of Lebanon, VA and Lindsay Frauhiger and husband Jarrett of Clayton, NC; one great-grandchild: Crystionna Nunley; along with several nieces and nephews.
