In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Mildred Puckett Carter; brothers: Evison Carter, Ezra Carter, Edward Carter and Marvin Carter; sister: Gertrude Silcox; grandson: Derek Allen Carter; and great-grandson: Jameson Allen Loudy.
Survivors include his daughter: Becky Carter of Lebanon; son: Allen Carter and wife Diane of Lebanon; grandchildren: Seth Padgett and wife Laura of Abingdon, Kayla Loudy of Mendota and Wesley Carter of Lebanon; great-grandchildren: Dera, Demi and Dane Loudy; several nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors; and special friend: Frances Fleenor.
A special thanks to all the caregivers at Maple Grove and English Meadows for the excellent care they gave our Daddy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022 in Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with Randy Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Ketron Memorial Gardens. Masonic rites will be conducted and Military Honors will be conducted by the Lebanon VFW Post 9864.
Serving as pallbearers will be Seth Padgett, Wesley Carter, Eddie Hall, Darrell Puckett, Alex Counts and Bobby McComas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Skeens, Eddie Skeens, Darrell Elam and Doyle Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cleveland Lifesaving Crew, P.O. Box 129, Cleveland, VA 24225.
