Imogene "Jean" Cox-Vice

May 5, 1934 — January 28, 2023

Bristol, TN

Bristol, TN – Imogene “Jean” Cox-Vice, loving mother, grandmother and wife was granted her heart’s desire and entered into the arms of Jesus on January 28, 2023, at the age of 88, from Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA with her loving family by her side.

Jean lived in Pound, VA for the first 66 years of her life and spent the last 22 years splitting her time between South Holston Lake in Bristol, TN, Somerset, KY and Lake Wales, FL.

She was a wonderful mother and loving wife who was always there when her children or family needed her. After moving to Bristol you would often find Jean mowing in the campground, volunteering and playing games at numerous nursing homes, flat-foot dancing or just enjoying lake life. She was a well-loved member of the communities in Tennessee, Kentucky and Florida.  Family and friends loved her cooking, her beautiful crocheting, and most of all her laughter and spunk. She loved her crossword puzzles and never hesitated to prove to family members she could still beat them at Scrabble.  Jean loved life & lived it to its fullest.

Jean was a member of the Pound Chapter 67 of the Eastern Star and of the Baptist faith, attending First Baptist Church of Pound, VA for over 30 years and later Golf View Baptist Church in Lake Wales, FL and church services at Peace Lakeview Campground in Bristol, TN.

Along with her Parents, Lonnie Sturgill and Edna Sturgill Tate, she is preceded in death by her late husband, Leon Cox, sister, Rita Addington and daughter, Marguerite Faye Cox Kiser.

Surviving are her husband, Roy Vice; Son, Scotty Cox of Pound, VA; Daughters: Vivian Cox Collier of Pound, VA, Sue (Bill) Mullins of Bristol, VA;  stepdaughter, Valerie Vice of Versailles, KY; Son-in-law, Lawrence Kiser; Grandchildren:  Heather Franklin, Holly Collier, Briana Mullins, Kelli Stevens, and Karla Palmore; Great-Grandchildren: Tristan Craiger, Zoey Surratt, Lauren Franklin, Jaylee & Logan Stevens; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
