James Hassel Kegley, 84, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Hassel was the owner of Kegley Service Center for 49 years. He served for 28 years on the Lebanon Town Council. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Turner and Goldie Kegley; sisters, Charlotte Robinson, Betsey Owen and Goldie Adams; brothers, Hubert Kegley, John Kegley, Guy Kegley, Bill Kegley, Don Kegley, Arthur Kegley, and infant brother. Special friends Mac Ray and Michael “DoDay” Wolfe.
Also preceded in death by his great-grandson, Preston Snead.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty Lou Garrett Kegley; daughter, Nita Kegley Snead and husband Eddie; sons, Leonard Kegley and wife Paulette and David Kegley and wife Stephanie; sisters, Sue Chafin and husband Carter; Judy Brooks; brother, Ed Kegley and wife Connie; grandchildren, Matthew Snead, Miranda Snead Yates and husband Joe, Allison Kegley, J.L. Kegley and wife Amber, Allie Hayden and husband Jeremiah. Several nieces and nephews also survive; two special great-nieces, Kynnedi Austin and Kady Mae Austin and special friend, Sam Hess.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Friday, May 9, 2025 in the Combs-Hess Funeral and Cremation Service chapel with Rev. Tom Edwards and Rev. Donnie Musick officiating. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the funeral home.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be family and friends.
