Jerry Wayne Slate

Lebanon, VA – Jerry Wayne Slate, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2022. Born August 28, 1948. He was the son of the late Alvin and Gladys Slate. He loved to hunt, spend time with his family and his little dog Taz. He was a member of Lebanon Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Rosie Tuggle Slate; daughter: Karen Slate; brother: Sam Slate; sisters: Tootsie Rasnake and Margaret Goodman; and brothers-in-law: Bob Goodman and Mack Tuggle.

Survivors include his son: Jerry Dewayne Slate and wife Tammy; sisters: Betty Settle and Gladys Winchester; brother: George Slate; grandchildren: Hailey Newell and husband Brian, Kristen Gilbert and husband Ethan, Jared Slate; great-grandchildren: Emma Newell and expected great-grandchild Aiden Newell; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 in Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with Minister Keith Hovis and Minister Ron Epling officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Ketron Memorial Gardens.
