Jerry Alden Wilson, Sr. - beloved father and grandfather - of Lebanon, VA went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2022 at the age of 82. He was a kind and generous soul who was cherished by his community and family. He was born on April 23, 1940 in Richlands, VA to the late Jess and Bertha Wilson. He served in the Army for three years. He had a successful career creating signs with the Art Display Company, specializing in the craft of neon signs in northern VA.
After his retirement, he moved back to Southwest VA, where enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, tending to his garden, and watching baseball. He was a faithful member of Green Valley Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He loved spending time on the Clinch Mountain with his son and son-in-law hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife: Mary Christine Wilson; as well as his sisters: Estelle, Bonnie, and Pauline.
He is survived by daughter: Diana Lilly and husband Scot; his sons: Jerry Wilson, Jr and wife June Marie, Teddy Wilson and wife Diane Herndon-Wilson; his granddaughters: Miranda and Victoria; and his grandsons: Zachary, Alden, Jett, and Jacob; brothers: Danny Wilson and Tom Wilson; and sister: May Henshaw.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Green Valley Church Chapel with Pastor Don Zampogna and Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. A private family interment will follow.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jett Lilly, Alden Wilson, Zachary Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Austin Clifton, and Travis Finkle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fisher House or Ronald McDonald House charities to support the loved ones of hospitalized veterans and children.
