Lester Bailey

Lester Hearl Bailey, 72, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his home.

Lester was born on November 18, 1952, to parents James B. and Irene Bailey in Abingdon, Va. Lester graduated from John Battle High School in 1971.

Lester went on to own and operate B&B Cable Company, Hilltop Cable Company, and retired as the owner and operator of L&S Cable Company.

Lester was proceeded in death by his parents James and Irene Bailey, siblings JymmieGail Spurgeon, Tilson Bailey, and brother-in-law Darrell Breeding.

Lester is survived by his loving wife Sharon Bailey; children Dawn Sims (Buddy), Jonathan Bailey, James “Bo” Bailey (Jessica), Neil Robinson (Tasha), and Jennifer Lawson (Brandon); grandchildren David, Trinity, Alexis, Lillian, Sydney, Cole, Braedyn, Broadie, Kasey, Kylie, Ian, and Ty; great- grandchildren J.D, Joseph, Jonah, Ryett and Raylan; sisters Helen Kress and Patty Nelson; sister-in- law Sheila Gibson and brother-in-law David Breeding (Lisa). Lester also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.

Lester had many interests. He loved animals of all kinds. Lester’s love of sports led him to coach many years of little league baseball as well as both men and women’s softball. He was a loyal Dale Earnhardt fan as well as college football, Roll Tide.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons-in-law.

Honorary pallbearers will be his loved and cherished friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 7 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the Combs-Hess Funeral and Cremation Service chapel with Pastor Layton Bentley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm. Burial will follow at 11 am on Friday July 18, 2025, in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood. Those wishing to attend should meet at the funeral home by 10:20 am to go in procession to the cemetery.
