Linda Cross

April 14, 1947 — August 30, 2024

Linda Cross, age 77, went to be with the Lord Friday August 30, 2024, with family by her side. Born April 14, 1947, the daughter of the late Cecil and Mary Ring. Linda served on the Russell County School Board for 16 yrs. Search and Rescue Board for 4yrs., Governor School Board for 16yrs., Hwy Committee for 8yr., Planning Commission for 14yrs., and Cub Scout Leader for 8yrs. She has been a member of the Copper Creek Moccasin Volunteer Fire Department for 30 yrs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Bobby F. Ring, Darrell Ring, Kenneth Ring; mother and father in-law Flem and Belva Cross.

Linda is survived by her husband Robert Cross; daughter Angel Gilbert and husband Joey; grandson Derek and wife Janice Sweet; great grandson Ivan Sweet; great granddaughters Emma Farmer and Savannah “Georgia” Farmer; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00pm Tuesday September 3, 2024, in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Fletcher and Pastor Ernie Addington officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm prior to the funeral service. 

Burial will be 11:00am Wednesday September 4, 2024, at Ketron Memorial Gardens those wishing to go in procession to the cemetery are requested to meet be the funeral home by 10:40.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Justice, Jesse Fields, Adam Dale, Don Hughes, Little John Salyers, Jody Hicks, Derek Sweet and Joey Gilbert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Cox, JL Kegley, Jay Sheppard, Leonard Kegley, David Ring, Gene Martin, Charlie Collins, John McCoy, Russell County Combined Search and Rescue Inc., Russell County Hwy Committee, Copper Creek Moccasin Volunteer Fire Department, and Russell County Planning Commission.
