Linda Gay Vance

Jul 12, 1948 — Aug 2, 2026

Cleveland, Virginia

Linda Gay Vance went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 2, 2026 at Bristol Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Ella Mae Elam; her brother, Wiley Elam; sister-in-law, Angel Dotson; brothers-in-law, Tracy Vance and Ronald Vance.

She was a devoted wife, mother and nana. She loved going to church, working in her flower beds and her garden. She loved weed eating, singing and dancing. To know my mom was to love my mom. She was the biggest jewel in our family. Our heart is shattered but to know that she is in the arms of Jesus is a huge comfort. She loved being with her great-grandbabies more than anything. You are loved more than words. You’re a winner now, mom! We will see you later!

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-three years, Delmer Vance; daughter, Suzanna Lockhart and husband Dwayne; four grandchildren, Amber May and husband Wesley, Ethan Gilbert and wife Kristen, Karri Nash and husband Richard, and Joshua Lockhart and fiancé Lillian; six great-grandchildren, Allen May, Mia Gilbert, Everett Nash, Adam May, Brielle Gilbert and Alyssa May; siblings, H.L. Elam and wife Bonnie, Guy Elam and wife Pat, Freddie Elam and wife Kay, Darrell Elam and wife Joann, Ricky Elam and wife Shirley, Paul Elam and wife Sandy, Brenda Linkous and husband Jerry, Angie Parks and husband Mark, Patricia Reynolds and husband Ira. Her brother-in-law, Andrew Vance; sisters-in-law, Glenda Sutherland, Arvie Barker and husband, Harold, Judy Amos and husband, Mark, Patricia Proffitt and husband, Billy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2026 in the Combs-Hess Funeral and Cremation Service chapel with Pastor Roger Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm at the funeral home. The committal service will be conducted at 2 pm, Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.
