Mitchell Lee Bailey

Mitchell Lee Bailey, 71, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Bailey and Dorothy Sutherland; one sister, Ernestine Pridemore and brothers, Carroll Bailey and Don Bailey.

He liked to hunt, fish and hang out on the farm with his dogs Katie and Rosebud.  He also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke on T.V. and spending time with family and friends.   Mitch took joy studying the Bible, singing in church and growing closer to Jesus everyday.   

Survivors include his wife of 38 years Barbara Bailey; daughter, Karre “Fred” Bailey and husband Morgan Doody; sisters, Deborah Barker and husband Lester, Sheilah Rasnake and husband Jim, Glenda Mounts and husband William Johnson; brothers, Rick Bailey and Larry Bailey; grandchildren, Payton Little and Sarah “Gurt” Rasnake.  Several nieces and cousins also survive.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses at Russell County Hospital and Johnson City Medical Center.

Funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024 in the Combs-Hess Funeral Service chapel with Rev. Kyle Rasnake officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  

Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Rasnake, Dr. Norman Rexrode, Lucas Worley, Daniel Abbott,  Morgan Doody, Jim Rasnake and Charlie Beavers.
