Patsy Nash Jones Skorupa

October 1, 1950 — February 22, 2023

Lebanon

Patsy Nash Jones Skorupa of Lebanon, Va., climbed on up to the path above following a determined struggle to simply take a breath over the past year. She passed away on February 22, 2023, at Bristol Regional Memorial Hospital.

If there were doctoral degrees for doers, movers, and shakers, Patsy would have been a top scholar in all three categories. She was never intimidated by any challenge; the greater the challenge, the greater her determination. As the administrator at Lebanon Community Fellowship church (LCF), she was a pillar for its foundations. It was her mission to dot every "i" and cross every "t" in the growth of that church, thinking of everything. That church has touched many lives. In those early days she further championed a program that made it their mission to offer services to make home repairs for the elderly, widowed, and families falling on hard times. What greater mission for a church than that...if in need call Patsy and it would get done. It was called 'Men On a Mission' and she kept them all busy in that outpouring of blessings as Terry, John, Dean, Gerald, Gary, Ronnie, Bob, Cracker and many others would agree. She was involved with LCF programs to the time of her passing in both the children's ministry and 50 + ministry group.

Patsy had many friends from all walks of her life. It's almost impossible to separate her friends from her family, because to her they were one and the same. One thing she was dedicated to above just about anything else was loving, supporting, and lifting up her friends. If there was a need, and she could meet it, she wouldn't simply meet that need, she would crush it, as too many friends and neighbors to list could attest.

When it comes to family, her daughters and grandchildren, forget about it. Every get together, whether it be a holiday or a birthday, became an event to remember. Her top priority and source of pride were her grandchildren, whom she never failed to dote on. Her grandchildren lost a slice of heaven on earth when they lost their "Ici".

Patsy was the last surviving child of Marvin "Red" and Bessie "Susie" Elswick of Lebanon, Va. She is survived by her husband, James Philmore Skorupa, whom she shared the last 19 years of her life with and who reciprocated her devotion and talents in full. Surviving children include Amy (Ernie) Keen, Holly (Eric) Buchanan, Shawn (Rebecca) Jones, Jason (Charlotte) Jones, Justin (Kristen) Skorupa, Adam (Char) Skorupa, Ryan Skorupa, Kaylah (Jeff) Smith, Bethany Skorupa, 19 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Lebanon Community Fellowship Church in Lebanon, Va. Visitation will be held from 4 until 5 p.m. prior to the funeral service at 5 p.m. Immediately following the services will be a lantern release.
