Paul Cox Fields

Paul Cox Fields, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.  He was a simple, peaceful man that was loved by many.  He liked to watch westerns on tv, Ford trucks and John Deere hats.  He was a retired logger and worked hard all his life.    

He was born in Russell County on November 7, 1944.   He was preceded in death by his parents O.C. and Mary Ruth Fields; one son, Richard Joseph Fields; brothers, Worley Fields, Jack Fields, Billy Joe Fields, Harold Fields and Bus Fields.   Two sisters, Sadie Skeens and Katherine Bellamy. 

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Fields; three children, Kimberly and Rocky Bush, Sherry Lynn Fields and Paula and Meredith Phillips all of Castlewood; nine grandchildren, Tabitha Palioan, Joshua Bush, Jeremiah Bush, Tana Broadwater, Derek Robinson, Zackery Phillps, Isacc Phillips, Lexi Fields and Xander Fields.  He also had eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hester Bradley, Noralee Bise and husband Pooch Bise and Linda Abbott; one brother, Donald Fields and wife Deloris. 

The family would like to thank Castlewood Rescue Squad, Dr. Harmon and nurses at C Health,   In Home Care of Wise nurses and therapists, Johnston Memorial nurses and doctors for all the loving care they provided; his special neighbors, Patty and Roy Mabry.   Your love and kindness will always be cherished. 

Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood with Rev. Harold Shortridge officiating.  Burial will follow immediately after the service.  Pallbearers will be Matt Palioan, Jake Broadwater, Marty Fields, John Boy Fields, Derek Robinson and Xander Fields.
