As a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, Verlean loved to sing with her husband and friends at many churches before her husband passed away. She was a passionate gardener and spent most of her summers tending her garden and preserving fruits and vegetables that she shared with family and friends. A visit to “Momaw’s” was rewarded with a jar of apple butter or a bag of apple chips. Her winters were spent making afghans. Many old friends, family and new friends she made will cherish her memory with the beautiful afghans and scarves that she shared. She was especially proud of her afghan that won a prize at the Appalachian Fair.
