William Richard Parker

William Richard Parker, 75, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

He was born on September 20, 1948 in Roda, Va.

He was a U.S. Navy Petty Officer from 1968 to 1971, a Vietnam War veteran and a coal miner for thirty-five years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #133 in Tazewell and a member of the V.F.W. Post #9864 in Lebanon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas McKenzie Parker and Mary Katherine Fuller Parker. 

Survivors include his wife of thirty-three years, Ola Gay Parker; children, Richard Thomas Parker, Kingsport, Tn., Chad Anthony Parker and wife Peggy, Gate City, Va., Tammy Racheal Woodward and husband Tony, Lebanon, Va. and Rhonda Jean Ball and husband Randall, Lebanon, Va.; brothers, Charles Parker and wife Joann, Keokee, Va., Walter Parker and wife Barbara, Lebanon, Va. , Kenneth Parker and wife Nancy, San Lorenzo, Calif., Fred Parker and wife Sharon of Grand Junction, CO. and Timothy Parker and wife Gloria, Gray, Tn.; grandchildren, Landon Parker, Millie Parker and Zak Parker, Josh Arrington, Adam Byington, Devon Stiltner, Tyler Stiltner, Shawnta Osborne, Caleb Woodward, Cheyenne Ball and Isaac Shortt; great-grandchildren, Chloe Compton-Whited, Adeline Compton Whited, Carter Stiltner, Kylie Osborne, Abigail Byington and Raelyn Arrington; special brother-in-law, Kenneth Wayne Shortt and wife Julia and his fishing buddies at Lake Witten, Ronnie Hess and Chuck Bowles also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024 in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Charles DeBord officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Lebanon V.F.W Post #9864.
