William Carl Smith

William Carl Smith, 76, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Smith; first wife, Nancy A. Smith; daughter, Crystal Lynn Smith and sister, Judy Gilmer.

Carl was a retired coal miner with thirty-one years of service and a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Smith; daughter, Belinda Jowers; sister, Linda Moore and husband Rod; step-children, Aaron Mullins and wife Wendy, Brannon Mullins and wife Celeste and Jeremy Mullins and wife Kim; grandchildren, McKenna Price and husband Ben, Monica Eaton and husband Josh, Freya Mullins, Astrid Mullins and Payton Cox; special niece, Amy White and two great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

UMWA rites will be conducted by the UMWA Sub District 28 Chaplain Corp. at 7 pm on Thursday, June 25, 2026 in the Combs-Hess Funeral and Cremation Service chapel with a funeral service immediately following with Rev. Virgil Musick officiating. Committal service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026 in the Ketron Memorial Mausoleum. Those wishing to attend should meet at the funeral home by 10:45 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
